How to get to Oslo

By Air to Oslo Gardermoen

Oslo can be reached from all continents and most capitals in Europe with direct flights.

Oslo Airport Gardermoen is one of the most modern airports in Europe and is situated 50 km from the city centre of Oslo. The Airport Express Train Flytoget takes you from the airport to Oslo Central Station in 19 minutes. Trains depart every 10 minutes. The fare is 210 NOK (approx. 21 Euro) one way. You can buy tickets as you embark the train (just swipe your credit card at the gate), online at www.flytoget.no/en/ or on the Flytoget app.

You may also reach Oslo by flying to Sandefjord Lufthavn Torp. From here, you can take a direct bus to reach Oslo in 1 hour and a half or a train from Torp Station with a similar journey time.

By Train

In addition to Flytoget, you may also go with the regional train (Vy), which takes you to Oslo Central Station in 23 minutes and leaves the airport station approximately 2-3 times every hour. The fare is from 105 NOK (10,5 €).

By Taxi

There are different taxi companies offering fixed rates to take you to Oslo, starting from approx. 700 NOK (70 €). Depending on traffic, the journey to the city centre will take you approx. 45 minutes . On arrival at the airport, please refer to the taxi information desk in the arrival hall, or check taxi prices here.

Getting Around in Oslo

Thanks to Oslo’s excellent public transportation system Ruter, it is easy to travel around the city. Distances between attractions are often quite short, so you can explore a lot of the city by walking or biking.

Public Transport

All public transport in Oslo and the surrounding boroughs are included in one ticketing system. That includes city and regional buses, trams, undergrounds, local trains and ferries. The ferries to Bygdøy are not included.

One of the easiest ways to get and manage tickets for public transport is using the mobile app Ruter.

Physical tickets can be purchased at the Oslo Visitor Centre, at Ruter’s customer service centre, and in Narvesen and 7-Eleven shops.
